Oook so today in class we discussed deductive logic, syllogisms, modus ponens, modus tollens etc...
Deductive Logic is basically made up of a Syllogism, Modus Ponens, and Modus Tollens.
An example of a Syllogism would be:
All girls PMS.
Erika is a girl.
Erika PMS'.
In the Syllogism it would be in an order like
A = B
B = C
C = A
All girls PMS.
Erika is a girl.
Erika PMS'.
PMS = A
Girl = B
Erika = C
confusing much? yes.
Modus Ponens is somehow a little easier to understand (well for me).
Example:
If I shoot my mom, ill go to jail.
I shot my mom therefore, I will go to jail.
its kind of like a cause and effect thing....
It's like if something happens then something else will happen as a result.
This is very hard fore me to explain...ehhh.
Modus Tollens is just about the same as Modus Ponens except you're just making it negative.
Example:
If I'm pregnant, then I had sex.
I'm not pregnant therefore, i didn't have sex.
get me?
it was possible to click in my head fore me. eek.
